PSG Out For Revenge Against Reims in Coupe de la Ligue Semi-Finals

Stade de Reims is one of the few teams to embarrass Paris Saint-Germain this season having beat them 2-0 at the Parc des Princes on September 25. Now, PSG will have an opportunity to exact revenge and knock them out of the Coupe de la Ligue.

On Thursday, the draw for the French League Cup commenced and PSG learned they would play Reims who not only surprised PSG that forgettable night at the Parc, but also many others in Ligue 1 as Les Rouges et Blancs current sits in sixth place.

According to PSG’s official website, the match will be played at the Stade Auguste-Delaune on either January 22 or 23, which could present a problem.

PSG has a Coupe de France match away at Lorient FC on January 19 and a Ligue 1 away match at Lille OSC on January 26. With Reims squeezed in the middle, that’s three road matches in the span of eight days. Not ideal with a trip to Germany planned for February 18 to take on Borussia Dortmund in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

A win over Reims would put PSG in the final for the very last Coupe de la Ligue as the tournament will cease to exist after this season. The final will be played on April 4 at the Stade de France.
