PSG Draws Ligue 2 Team in Coupe de France Round of 32

Following their 6-0 win over ESA Linas-Montlhéry last Sunday, Paris Saint-Germain learned who they will play next in the Coupe de France.

The 12-time winners of the French cup will travel to the Stade Yves Allainmat-Le Moustoir to face FC Lorient in the Round of 32 of the tournament. The date and time have yet to be determined.

Lorient currently sits in second place in Ligue 2 and according to PSG’s official website, the two clubs have played each other in the competition on three occasions (two wins for Paris and one for Lorient).

In a recent interview with Le Télégramme (via Culture PSG), Lorient manager Christophe Pélissier praised the draw and is looking forward to the atmosphere.

“It’s the perfect draw. We have one of the most beautiful teams in Europe at home, it’s going to be a great party and a gala match.”

Les Merlus hope to maintain their status in Ligue 2 to achieve promotion to the top tier of French football where they’ll be guaranteed two matches against the reigning French champions.

It will be a good test for Lorient but for PSG, it’s yet another match they must play before traveling to Germany to face Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League where they will be ultimately judged.

Every trophy matters though so expect a professional performance from Les Parisiens.
