Video: Neymar Subbed Off Early With Hamstring Injury

The international break is always a time where football fans hold their breath in hopes that the star players on their club teams don’t pick up an injury while representing their country. Unfortunately for Paris Saint-Germain supporters, their biggest star was subbed off in a match in Singapore after only 12 minutes with what looked like a muscle injury.

In an international friendly against Nigeria, Brazil’s Neymar Jr. appeared to injury his hamstring and asked to be subbed off after not being able to run it off.

Neymar’s injury history has been well-documented. Transfermarkt has an extensive list of his injuries throughout his career if you’ve forgotten just how unlucky PSG’s #10 is.

We don’t know anything about the injury as of right now and will update once we know more. It’s very possible that Neymar felt a slight strain and asked to come off as a precaution. After he made the run in the video, the 27-year-old continued to play and made a few touches on the ball and runs, but ultimately asked Tite to come off.

Neymar reached 100 caps with Brazil earlier in the week in a friendly against Senegal. The Brazilian scored 61 goals and 41 assists in those 100 games. You can understand him wanting to play against Senegal in a friendly to reach the 100 cap plateau, but it’s hard to understand why he needed to play in a meaningless friendly against Nigeria in Singapore. PSG Talk contributor has some sage advice for Paris Saint-Germain:

It’s incredibly frustrating to watch Neymar potentially suffer another injury that could cause him to miss some time. Hopefully, he went off as a precaution and it’s not something serious. PSG is already dealing with Kylian Mbappé’s injured hamstring and he had to be sent home from the France national team earlier this week as reported by Goal.

If he is injured and needs to miss some time, it will be difficult but I believe PSG could overcome the injury. They are in the driver’s seat in the UEFA Champions League, sitting in the top spot in Group A, and they are top of Ligue 1. Mauro Icardi, Pablo Sarabia, and Angel Di Maria are in good form to lead the attack and Edinson Cavani is expected to return soon along with Mbappé—hopefully…
