On this episode, Damon discusses Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-0 win over AS Monaco on Saturday that saw them win their fifth consecutive Coupe de la Ligue title. Several players put in a nice performance, Julian Draxler for example, but it was Kylian Mbappé who stole the show (sorry VAR). The Frenchman absolutely torched his former club and while he didn’t get on the scoresheet, he contributed to all three goals for PSG and earned Man of the Match honors.
Following the loss to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, PSG has had to pick themselves up off the mat and focus on their domestic duties. Many may not realize it but the club has a great opportunity to accomplish the best season in French football history (domestic quadruple and 100 points total in Ligue 1). It would be very easy for these players to simply go through the motions as the season comes to a close but you have to applaud their efforts and you saw what it meant to them to win the Coupe de la Ligue in the post-match celebration.
The second part of the episode is devoted to Thomas Tuchel, who, depending on what source you read, will be the next manager at PSG once Unai Emery is sacked. Bringing his expertise of Tuchel and German football to the discussion, Dunne discusses the manager’s tactics and what he might bring to the French capital, both good and bad.
