PSG Small Talk Podcast: France vs. Bulgaria & PSG Players Abroad

Paris Saint-Germain don’t return to action until October 14 where they will face Dijon FCO at the Stade Gaston Gérard so we thought we would record a special international episode of PSG Small Talk. Host Marc Damon (@MarcDamon1) breaks out his best French in the intro and dives into the latest action from the France national team and examines how PSG’s international players fared with their own national teams.

France is one of the most loaded squads heading into the FIFA World Cup next summer but are they the favorites to win? Is Didier Deschamps the right manager to lead this team to the promise land? What role will Kylian Mbappé have in Russia and is he ready for football’s biggest stage? There’s no doubt PSG’s French players will have a say in how far the UEFA Euro 2016 runners-up will go.

When you look at PSG’s squad, it’s difficult to find a player who won’t be participating in the World Cup in Russia. Does the plethora of international players mean PSG have entered the upper echelon of club football? If you consider the squads of other top teams you have to say PSG are right there when it comes with young, promising talent.

As always with these international matches, there were injuries and PSG were hit with one that they can’t afford. Thiago Silva picked up a knock and he could be out for a few matches. Given PSG’s lack of depth at the center-back position, Unai Emery will be forced to rely on Marquinhos and Presnel Kimpembe. If any of them pick up an injury, it could be the first crisis of the season.
