Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema apparently had a lot to say during a recent Instagram Live broadcast, including a few words about Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappé.
With football on pause due to the coronavirus, players are taking to social media to show fans what they’re doing to stay fit, pass the time, and to answer questions from fans. Benzema is known to be a social media savant so naturally, he’s taking this unexpected time off to increase his followers.
During the broadcast (via Culture PSG), heaped praise upon his fellow Frenchman but indicated that he has not hit the roof of his potential yet.
“He is young, he is very strong. He’s a player that I really like.”
“He is strong but he still has a lot to learn. But he’s hot, strong, he’s a very good player…he is very, very good.”
Nothing groundbreaking here, but it is interesting that Benzema says Mbappé has a lot to learn. Perhaps he’s talking about the 21-year-old’s sideline altercations with manager Thomas Tuchel this season. Other than that, Mbappé is a model citizen off the pitch and on it, he’s easily a top-five player in the world.
I also would have liked Benzema to compare Mbappé to a mode of transportation. If he is a Formula 1 car and Olivier Giroud is a go-kart, what does that make Mbappé? A fighter jet?
