PSG Reacts to Terror in Paris

As many of you know, eight terrorists carried out a series of attacks in Paris last Friday that killed 129 and wounded over 300 in what many are describing as the worst attack on the city since World War II.

The night of horror began shortly after 9 p.m. in Paris when suicide bombers detonated their weapons outside the Stade de France where 80,000 spectators were watching France take on Germany in a friendly. The explosions could be heard during the broadcast:

The news got worse by the minute as the other teams of terrorists carried out their plan. More bombs were detonated, shots were fired into restaurants, and hostages were taken at the Bataclan where approximately 1,000 people were in attendance to watch Eagles of Death Metal perform. By the time police were able to storm the venue, 100 people were murdered.

News of the attacks spread around the world and reached many Paris Saint-Germain players who are currently abroad with their national teams. Like the rest of the world, they offered their support and prayers for the victims. Below, we have pulled together a few of the responses from PSG players and the club:

Football is the last thing on anyone’s mind right now but the beautiful game could serve as an act of defiance and a source of inspiration in the coming days. On Tuesday, France will take on England at Wembley Stadium in what is certain to be an emotional friendly. PSG’s Blaise Matuidi started the match against Germany on Friday and should get the start again.

PSG is scheduled to take on FC Lorient at the Stade du Moustoir on November 21 before heading to Sweden to face Malmö FF in the Champions League. They don’t return to the Parc des Princes until November 28.
