PSG completed the signing of young Dro Fernandez from FC Barcelona during the January transfer window. The move was delayed because Spanish regulations required Fernandez to pay the 47 percent tax on his €6 million release clause.
This extra cost pushed PSG to raise its offer, bringing the total fee to roughly €7 million. Despite receiving higher bids from Manchester City, Chelsea, and Borussia Dortmund, Fernandez opted for Paris.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick had intended to make him a central figure in the squad, but assurances from Luis Enrique about more playing time in Paris convinced Fernandez to make the switch.
Should Dro Fernandez Have Stayed at Barcelona?
While the young player’s decision has been made, and we will see if it works out for him, former Barcelona striker Oscar Garcia believes the young player made a mistake by leaving the Catalan side for a bigger opportunity with the Parisians.
“In these kinds of decisions, many factors come into play,” Garcia said (h/t Le10Sport). “Does the family need this contract to secure their livelihood? Does he see himself here (in Barcelona) as a fifth or sixth option, while in Paris he might be the third?”

“He moved straight into the first team, skipping two levels from Juvenil B. That shows the coach trusts him far more than any other player, and I understand Flick’s disappointment (…) I would always advise players not to leave Barça.”
But when you get 2mn of garbage time match after match, you get frustrated and youre realistic with the midfield Barca have, dro and others have no shot…. Better leave to get playing time . Garcia is old school, he doesnt get the game today…
