Paris Saint-Germain originally loaned Xavi Simons to RB Leipzig for a second consecutive season as a short-term fix, but that arrangement has shifted. Leipzig secured Simons on a permanent transfer, marking a significant change in the midfielder’s career trajectory.

As part of the deal with the German club, the Ligue 1 side included a sell-on clause, giving them the chance to earn a bit more than the original fee they received.

Manchester United are believed to hold an edge over Manchester City in the race to sign Simons next summer, according to a report from CaughtOffside. With growing interest across Europe, the 21-year-old’s long-term future remains uncertain despite his recent move.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano confirmed the terms of the deal, which is reportedly worth €80 million with add-ons. The base transfer fee stands at €55 million, and the agreement includes the previously mentioned sell-on clause that keeps PSG invested in Simons’ next step.

Romano also revealed that Simons’ contract with Leipzig runs through June 2027. However, with multiple top clubs monitoring his progress, another transfer could be on the horizon as early as this summer.
