Aston Villa came into the second leg at Villa Park believing a comeback was possible, especially with their home crowd behind them. But any hopes of turning the tie around were quickly dashed, as Paris Saint-Germain struck early to take a 1-0 lead and push their aggregate advantage to 4-1.
Bradley Barcola burst down the left side on a quick counterattack and tried to cross to Ousmane Dembélé on the opposite flank. Emiliano Martínez came out to intercept but failed to control the ball, pushing it straight to Achraf Hakimi, who finished from the penalty spot.
