Paris Saint-Germain drew Premier League leaders Liverpool for their Round of 16 matchup in the UEFA Champions League. The capital club advanced past Stade Brestois in their knockout play-off round 10-0 on aggregate and now receive a massive challenge.
After the second-leg win, manager Luis Enrique spoke with the media and gave a funny response when asked which matchup he preferred: Barcelona or Liverpool.
“I would like to face either Liverpool or Barça (laughs),” Enrique said. “I have a preference on who I want to face, yes, but I won’t reveal it publicly now. We’re ready for both. It’s easy, eh (smiles).”
Now that he knows that they’ll be facing Liverpool over two legs, the Spanish manager will need to devise a plan for his young team to shock the Reds and advance to the quarterfinals of the competition.
What was PSG’s reaction to drawing Liverpool

On Friday, once the draw was made official, Marquinhos, on the PSG squad that faced Liverpool in the group stage in 2018, shared his thoughts on drawing the English club while speaking to PSG TV.
“It’s a team with experience in this competition,” Marquinhos said (h/t Paris Fans). “And we will have to play two great matches. Anyway, it’s the Champions League. If you want to win it, you need strong confrontations. We’re ready for that, and we will fight for qualification in these two duels.”
