With Milan Skriniar set to move to Fenerbahçe SK, Paris Saint-Germain could be in the market for a new center-back when the summer transfer window opens. Since Skriniar’s departure is permanent, PSG will need to find a replacement.

ESPN reported last week that PSG are targeting Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté for a summer move, citing sources. The report also notes that the France international is interested in the idea of returning to his hometown.

Konaté, who is under contract with Liverpool until 2026, remains a priority for the club despite PSG’s interest. He joined Liverpool in July 2021 for £36 million ($45.3 million) from RB Leipzig.

Journalist Romain Collet Gaudin confirmed the report, adding that PSG’s top two targets for the summer are Konaté and AS Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche.

In the latest update, journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports that Konaté is ‘in love with Paris’ and his agents have already made initial contacts with PSG with a view to a summer move.

Konaté isn’t the priority target at centre-back for Luis Enrique and Campos but Nasser Al-Khelaïfi is keen on bringing him in. Recently, Get French Football News reported, citing sources, that reports linking Konaté (25) with a move to PSG are “completely unfounded.”

In an interview with Téléfoot, the French international defender shared his thoughts on the reported interest from both Ligue 1 leaders and reigning Champions League holders, Real Madrid.

“To hear big clubs like that are showing interest in me is very flattering!,” Konaté said (h/t Get French Football News). “Now I’m focussing on this season, giving it my all and I’ll let my agents take care of the rest.”
