PSG Players Who Could Leave This Summer

When it comes to Paris Saint-Germain, it’s easy to focus on the incoming players during the summer and winter transfer windows, given their financial advantage over most clubs, but in order to stay compliant with Financial Fair Play regulations, players need to leave the club as well.

With a €70 million transfer fee, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is PSG’s most expensive January signing in club history. PSG has also signed João Neves for €60 million, Bradley Barcola for €45 million, Gonçalo Ramos for €65 million, and Randal Kolo Muani for €95 million in recent windows. There’s been a lot of cash spent, and don’t forget, PSG’s biggest superstar, Kylian Mbappé, left on a free transfer to Real Madrid. If PSG were to pay for my essay on what to do next in the upcoming transfer window and which players should depart, here’s what I would tell them:

First, it’s time to move on from Marquinhos. He has been an integral part of the squad and is the current captain, but at 30 years old, this summer is really the last opportunity for PSG to recoup a decent transfer fee for him. Whether it be the Saudi Pro League or perhaps the Premier League, someone will be interested in Marquinhos, and PSG can use the transfer fee to sign a suitable replacement.

The next PSG player that should be outgoing this summer is Gianluigi Donnarumma. Currently, the Italy international is looking for a contract extension, but the club would be foolish to go along with him as the number-one choice goalkeeper. Donnarumma makes far too many mistakes in the big matches and is very poor with the ball at his feet. He’s not an efficient distributor of the ball and that is not in line with what Luis Enrique wants. There will be plenty of clubs lining up for Donnarumma and PSG would be wise to move on from him instead of signing him to an expensive extension.

Xavi Simons is out on his second loan to RB Leipzig, but he remains under contract at PSG. For whatever reason, Simons does not want to play for PSG. Instead of wasting time negotiating with him or trying to convince him, PSG should entertain any and all offers for the 21-year-old Netherlands international. Depending on the club, PSG could potentially be looking at a transfer fee of around €100 million, which could help sign depth to a squad that desperately needs it.

There could be a few surprise departures this summer, but those are the three biggest ones that should generate the largest transfer fee.
