Paris Saint-Germain could be looking to bolster its center-back depth in 2025, and one potential name for the capital club is Sevilla’s Loïc Badé.
The Frenchman has been turning heads, especially after his standout role for France at the Summer Olympics. His rising profile caught the attention of French national team coach Didier Deschamps, who called him up during the latest international break.
With this recent success, the defender has put himself on the radar of several top European clubs looking to improve their defense either for the rest of this season or next summer.
According to a report from SPORT, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and Paris Saint-Germain are all considering a move for the promising defender.
Spanish outlet Diario AS has also reported that Liverpool are eyeing Sevilla’s French defender Badé as a possible replacement for an aging Virgil van Dijk. Liverpool scouts observed Badé in action during the recent Barcelona-Sevilla match at Montjuïc.
Pundit weighs in on PSG pursuing Loïc Badé
In his recent appearance on the PSG Talk Extra Time podcast, Football Transfer’s Robin Bairner spoke about whether Badé makes sense as a target for the Ligue 1 side as they continue to inject more youth into the team.
“He’s obviously got Ligue 1 experience and quite a lot of it as well,” Bairner said about Badé. “He’s a proven Ligue 1 player. He’s probably the player that would come in and not necessarily expect to immediately play a starting role. So in that regard, he would be ideal. But equally, Sevilla are likely to sell him in the summer. But there’s a lot of Premier League interest there as well because he has the attributes that typically Premier League teams like, and he’s been playing well in Spain.
“We’ve seen him linked to a string of Premier League clubs, I believe Newcastle, Liverpool, and there was somebody else who escapes my mind at the moment was linked to him. Good Premier League clubs, but not the very top Premier League clubs, Liverpool aside. He would be a player that I imagine would come in and act as a backup player initially if he were to move to PSG, but certainly, a very good option to have given his experience.”
TBR Football reported last week, citing sources, that Newcastle United have joined the race for the Frenchman. The outlet concluded its reporting by noting that Sevilla would be open to selling Badé in the January transfer window for a price well below his current €60 million (£50.1 million) release clause.
