Following a stellar 2023-24 season, where he made 37 appearances and helped Athletic Club secure the 2024 Copa del Rey, Williams also played a crucial role in Spain’s success at UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany.
This season, the forward has scored two goals and recorded three assists in 16 appearances across all competitions for Athletic Club.
Recently, SPORT reported that Athletic Club are eager to extend Williams’ contract amid ongoing interest from other European clubs. Barcelona remains interested in him as a potential target, but only if his release clause stays at €60 million.

Spanish outlet SPORT (h/t Diario AS) has provided an update on the situation between Williams and Barcelona. The Catalan club attempted to sign him in the summer, but the move ultimately fell through.
According to the outlet, Barcelona are in a stronger position. If Williams is keen on joining the club, he must take the initiative and express his desire to leave Athletic. The LaLiga side also believe they have alternative options, including Kvaratskhelia and Rafa Leão.
