Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported last month that Paris Saint-Germain are actively working on a new contract for Achraf Hakimi, who is seen as a key part of their long-term plans.
Romano notes that PSG and Hakimi are settling the final details for his contract extension and that the contract length and salary are nearly agreed upon.
One stat highlighting why the Parisians are keen on keeping Morocco international is due to his ability to create scoring chances despite being a right-back.
WhoScored spotlighted the players with the most chances created from open play in Europe’s top five leagues this season, and Hakimi is tied for third with 24 chances created. The PSG standout is tied with Parma’s Dennis Man and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer while trailing Barcelona duo Lamine Yamal (26) and Raphinha (32).

Moreover, it’s impressive that Hakimi is the only defender in that group; the other players are forwards.
Since joining PSG in 2021, Hakimi has made 131 appearances across all competitions, scoring 16 goals and recording 22 assists. Furthermore, he’s won three Ligue 1 titles, one Coupe de France trophy, and two Trophée des Champions during his four years in the French capital.
