RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško was reportedly a target for Paris Saint-Germain during the summer transfer window as they sought a new goal-scoring option after Kylian Mbappé’s departure.

The Slovenian forward, who is contracted with Leipzig until 2029, enjoyed a strong 2023-24 season, scoring 18 goals and providing two assists in 42 appearances.

PSG had been linked with several strikers over the summer. However, sporting advisor Luis Campos ultimately opted not to sign a new No. 9. With Gonçalo Ramos now injured, it’s easy to argue that PSG might have been better off pursuing a striker.

The 21-year-old is having another impressive campaign in 2024-25 as he’s scored seven goals and recorded three assists in 14 matches across all competitions. As a result, the decision to stay with the German side is paying off so far.

According to the Daily Mail’s Sami Mokbel, Šeško reconsidered joining Arsenal last summer due to concerns about being a backup to Kai Havertz. His release clause is £55 million, and the Gunners are still monitoring him for a possible move.

If the capital club does return, it will face more competition than Arsenal. Give Me Sport reported in September that Manchester United are still interested in signing the Leipzig forward.
