Napoli loanee Victor Osimhen was linked to Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain right up until the final week of the summer transfer window. However, neither club managed to secure a deal to bring him in to strengthen their attack.
Instead, the 25-year-old ended up on a temporary stint with Galatasaray, where he’s showing potential suitors why he’s considered a top No. 9. Recently, the Nigerian star made it clear that clubs shouldn’t hesitate to invest heavily in him.
“I am worth over €100 million,” Osimhen said last month. “There are few players in the world like me, who have reached such style and success. It all relates to my characteristics, what I do, and my quality.”
Galatasaray want to keep Victor Osimhen long-term
According to Turkish outlet Sozcu, Galatasaray now hope to sign Osimhen on a permanent basis, with the club willing to pay £42 million for the the striker. The forward has scored four goals and recorded four assists in seven appearances across all competitions so far.
After a strong start in Turkey, Fabrizio Romano provided an update on Osimhen in September. The transfer expert discussed whether Chelsea might have the advantage in the race for the striker or if another club could step in for a player who seems to be finding his 2022-23 form again.
“I’ve said many times recently that Chelsea’s interest remains and they still like the player, but there are no negotiations ongoing and it would be disrespectful for Galatasaray as they paid important money to land Osimhen on loan,” Romano recently wrote. “So it’s all quiet for now, and once we get closer to January we will see the developments.”
