In September, CaughtOffside reported that Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Paris Saint-Germain were all interested in Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyökeres. Following his hat-trick against Manchester City on Tuesday, a former player highlighted what sets him apart as a standout forward.
Tottenham are currently leading the chase for Gyökeres, while Chelsea see him as a backup option as they prioritize a move for Victor Osimhen, potentially in January or next summer. PSG are also closely watching Gyökeres, taking advantage of their strong connections with Sporting.
However, CaughtOffside notes that PSG’s pursuit might depend on whether they decide to sell Gonçalo Ramos or Kolo Muani at the end of this campaign—something that remains undecided.
Additionally, A Bola reports that Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, has initiated talks to bring Gyökeres to the Catalan club. The striker reportedly has an agreement with Sporting allowing him to leave for a fee of €60 million to €70 million.
PSG have Viktor Gyökeres as top No. 9 target
L’Équipe reports (h/t Fichajes) that PSG plans to use the winter transfer window to bring in a left-winger who can support Bradley Barcola, along with strengthening two defensive positions they feel need depth: center-back and left-back.
The Parisians would also love to sign a reliable No. 9, but their main target, Gyökeres, seems unlikely to make a mid-season switch. With a €100 million release clause, Sporting CP has firmly stated they won’t consider selling him until at least next summer.
