Paris Saint-Germain’s 2024-25 season will be pivotal in determining whether they truly have a No. 9 issue. This summer, the club chose to put its faith in Gonçalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani and decided not to pursue another striker.

However, with Ramos sidelined due to injury, PSG has struggled to find the back of the net in the UEFA Champions League, managing just one goal in two matches under Luis Enrique.

Although it’s still early in the season, PSG’s leadership might need to consider a backup plan if their current attacking options don’t deliver. They could be ready to invest significantly in a new striker if needed.

A recent report from TEAMTalk reveals that Real Madrid, PSG, and Barcelona are closely monitoring Erling Haaland’s contract situation at Manchester City. The Norwegian striker is willing to sign a new deal but is seeking a £100 million release clause.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano provided the latest on Haaland’s future and questioned any reports of Barcelona making a move for him in 2025.

“Barcelona have been linked with Manchester City’s star player in the Spanish press, but my honest feeling is that predicting what Barca will do now for summer 2025 would be completely made-up stuff,” Romano wrote in his Daily Briefing column for CaughtOffside. “It will depend on Financial Fair Play and on how this season goes.

“It’s still early October. At the club, they’re absolutely not working on this kind of big deals for summer 2025 now. Haaland is only focused on Man City, there’s nothing concrete ongoing at all – I can guarantee that.”
