Monaco won’t sell PSG-linked summer target amid Newcastle pursuit, claims Romano

Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche will be a hot commodity next year, but the Ligue 1 side won’t entertain any offers in January, one transfer football expert says.

This past summer, Paris Saint-Germain was linked to Akliouche as the capital club continues its transfer strategy of securing young talent, especially French standouts.

In June, Sports Zone reported that Akliouche was excited about the possibility of joining PSG that summer and the club was close to finalizing personal terms with him. He had been impressed by PSG’s vision and hoped they would make an offer to Monaco, even though the Ligue 1 club was eager to keep him.

Nonetheless, nothing occurred, but the player’s stock is rising after an impressive start to the 2024-25 season. As a result, the 22-year-old is drawing interest from top clubs.

However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano notes that any rumors linking PSG’s summer target to Newcastle United are unfounded on his end.

“I don’t have information on Newcastle actively working to sign Maghnes Akliouche or starting any sort of negotiation,” Romano wrote in his Daily Briefing column for CaughtOffside.

“It’s definitely too early to understand what’s gonna happen next summer. For January, no movement is expected and it’s understood that he will stay at Monaco. In the summer, we will see; but at the moment, nothing to report.”
