Paris Saint-Germain currently have Achraf Hakimi playing at right-back, and recent reports suggest that the Moroccan international is expected to extend his contract. However, nothing is set in stone in football until everything is signed.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has indicated that PSG and Hakimi are close to finalizing this extension’s details, with the contract length and salary almost agreed upon.

That said, could PSG still be looking to bring in some competition for Hakimi? According to Fichajes, the club is considering a potential signing from Real Madrid and is also interested in Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose contract runs until 2025.

According to Spanish outlet SPORT, Alexander-Arnold has turned down multiple contract extension offers from Liverpool. He’s looking for a new challenge, and Real Madrid isn’t the only club interested in him.

Whether it’s PSG or Real Madrid, any club keen on the player received a warning regarding the player’s form. During a pundit discussion panel on Sky Sports, Theo Walcott stated that he doesn’t view the Englishman as a top-of-the-line defender, noting that if Alexander-Arnold wants to win the Ballon d’Or, he still has ways to go.

“He’s not at that level because defensively, like I said at the start of the game, is where I will feel he will be tested,” Walcott said.

“[Gabriel] Martinelli, we’re not saying Martinelli is a Vinicius Jr. Martinelli is a very good player, but he caused problems and that’s why [we are] talking about [Ibrahima] Konaté coming over to help Trent. I think if you’re Ballon d’Or, you don’t need help.”
