Carlos Soler left Paris Saint-Germain to go out on loan to West Ham United as the 27-year-old gets a fresh start with the Premier League side.

In August, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Soler joined the Hammers on loan, with an option to buy included in the deal with PSG. Furthermore, West Ham will cover his salary as part of the agreement.

West Ham manager Julen Lopetegui brought in Soler to challenge midfielder Tomas Soucek. The player is also excited about this opportunity to reignite his career in London.

Now, two months into this tenure, Give Me Sport reports that Soucek has responded well to the competition, causing Lopetegui to reconsider potentially selling the player when the January window opens in a couple of months.

Lopetegui has been giving Soucek regular starts as he works his way back into the team, with the midfielder already racking up 459 league minutes this season.

In several matches, Soucek has been preferred over players like Soler, Guido Rodriguez, and Edson Alvarez, and his efforts to cement his place as a critical figure in Lopetegui’s plans have paid off.

If Soucek continues to play at this level, it will be interesting to see whether West Ham opt to keep Soler permanently.
