Kylian Mbappé’s first El Clásico turned into a tough debut, with Real Madrid falling 4-0 to FC Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabéu on Saturday night.

The former Paris Saint-Germain forward even made history, but not the kind he’d hoped for. Although the first half ended 0-0, Mbappé thought he’d scored in the 31st minute to put Real Madrid ahead. However, VAR ruled it offside, setting the tone for a challenging night.

In fact, offsides became a recurring issue for Mbappé. According to StatMuse on X, he was flagged offside eight times during the match—a stat nearly matching Las Palmas’ total for the entire season, with nine.

If things couldn’t get worse for Mbappé and Real Madrid, they had to watch Barcelona celebrate four goals in the second half. Veteran striker Robert Lewandowski scored twice, in the 54th and 56th minutes, followed by a goal from Lamine Yamal in the 77th minute.

Raphinha sealed it for Barcelona in the 84th, putting the final nail in Madrid’s hopes. It’s been a rough start for Mbappé at Real Madrid, and unless he finds a way to turn things around, his time there could end on a disappointing note.
