Paris Saint-Germain lost 2-0 to Arsenal on Tuesday night at Emirates Stadium. The Parisian side struggled after conceding two goals in the first half and continued to stumble to find the net throughout the match.

Gianluigi Donnarumma made two mistakes that resulted in goals for the home side. The first goal occurred after the Italian goalkeeper came off his line to catch a cross that didn’t look too threatening.

Unfortunately, this decision backfired as his gamble to go for the ball didn’t pay off, allowing Kai Havertz to get a header in and score. On the second goal, he whiffed on the free-kick shot from Bukayo Saka.

The excuse can be that Arsenal put enough bodies near Donnarumma to generate traffic that didn’t allow him to see the ball. However, the 25-year-old attempted to swat the ball, but he completely missed as it went in the back of the net.

Following the loss, Marquinhos spoke to Canal+ to reveal what went wrong for the Ligue 1 side.

“We had plenty of possession, but we didn’t move enough into the open spaces, and we need to be more aggressive and find the back of the net,” Marquinhos told the French outlet. “In the second half, we controlled the ball, but we created very few opportunities. In the Champions League, we have to do better than that.

“We’re a team that likes to play with the ball and maintain possession. We try to draw the opponent in to create space and capitalize on it, but we didn’t manage to do that today. Every team has its strengths and weaknesses, and we paid the price for conceding goals.”

PSG will need to bounce back from this loss when they face OGC Nice on Sunday before the latest FIFA international break occurs.
