Paris Saint-Germain are probably setting the stage for an upgraded defense under manager Luis Enrique. While the addition of Willian Pacho is a promising start, it seems like just one piece of the puzzle for strengthening the center-back position.
Marquinhos is now in his 30s, Lucas Hernandez is recovering from a significant injury, and Milan Skriniar isn’t seen as part of the club’s future. This leaves young talents like Lucas Beraldo and Pacho to help rejuvenate the defense.
The capital club will be looking to add a defender that fits Enrique’s style. On Monday, reports surfaced that PSG are one of the clubs keen on Arsenal defender William Saliba. However, the Parisians are also eyeing another defender in London.
TyC Sports’ Gastón Edul reports that Cristian Romero attracted interest from PSG, Real Madrid, and Manchester United this summer. Despite the interest, Tottenham Hotspur were firm about not letting him go.
However, with two years remaining on his contract, he’s likely to receive more offers next summer. If there’s no extension from now until the 2025 summer transfer window, Spurs will need to decide whether to cash in on the player or take the gamble and continue talks over a new contract.
🚨 Cristian Romero had interest from three teams this summer: PSG, Real Madrid and Manchester United.
Tottenham were adamant they wouldn’t sell him, but he will have offers again next summer with two years left on his deal.

The 26-year-old has been with Tottenham since 2022, playing in 101 matches across all competitions while scoring seven goals and registering one assist. There’s no set asking price, but Transfermarkt puts Romero’s value at €65 million.
