Report: West Ham Reveal Surprising Reason Behind Straight Loan Deal for PSG Ace

In the rumors leading up to Carlos Soler’s departure to West Ham United, reports noted that the transfer to the Premier League side would include an option or obligation to buy. However, that wasn’t the case.

The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder arrives in London on a straight loan as he attempts to get his career back on track. As a result, a move this past summer transfer window was needed for him. Moreover, Soler looks to garner the attention of Spain manager Luis de la Fuente before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Nonetheless, why did Soler’s move to the Hammers not include any clauses? One report reveals that the player’s wages were the key sticking point that led to a deal being a straight loan.

“Soler is on £240k a week at PSG,” a West Ham spokesperson told Hammers News. “So it’s going to be hard to do a permanent deal.”

Once the transfer became official last Friday, Soler shared his first words upon joining the Hammers as he looks to be a key contributor this 2024-25 season.

“I can’t wait to feel the support of the fans, who I have already heard so much about from conversations with people who know the Club, like my good friend Pablo Fornals,” Soler said. “I am excited about meeting my new team-mates and giving my all for this Club in the best league in the world.”
