During the summer transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain expressed interest in Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich. Despite the approach, Kimmich decided to remain with Bayern for the final year of his contract.

If the 29-year-old doesn’t sign an extension this season, he’ll have the freedom to decide his future and could potentially leave Bayern as a free agent next summer.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona is eyeing Jonathan Tah of Bayer Leverkusen and Kimmich of Bayern Munich as part of its 2025 strategy to strengthen its midfield and defense. The Spanish outlet also mentioned that Barcelona hope to secure Kimmich on a free transfer.

Moreover, new information from Mundo Deportivo reveals that the Catalan club wants to beat PSG for Kimmich because of the player’s versatility. Manager Hansi Flick trusted the veteran enough to use him as a right-back and in a double-pivot role.

Former footballer Bojan Krkic Sr. recently noted that the 2020 UEFA Champions League winner wants to join the Catalan side.

“Kimmich really wants to come to Barça,” Krkic Sr. said on Cadena Ser. “The coach plays an important role and Barça has what it does to sign good players with a coach recognized as Flick.”
