Early in the summer, The Athletic’s Mario Cortegana revealed that Real Madrid are considering Achraf Hakimi as Dani Carvajal’s long-term replacement. However, this plan might not occur.
The Spanish side are reportedly considering the Moroccan as a potential right-back because he came through their youth system, has a strong connection with Kylian Mbappé, and his contract runs until 2026.
However, over the last few days, a move for Hakimi might suffer a setback. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently reported that talks to extend Carvajal’s contract will take place because of positive feelings on all sides.
Le Parisien reports that Hakimi has reassured PSG’s leadership about his future with the club. He is determined to take on more responsibilities and is expected to become one of the vice-captains. Hakimi’s strong attachment to PSG is evident, and the staff consider him one of their key players.

Hakimi joined PSG in 2021 from Inter Milan and has made 123 appearances while scoring 15 goals and registering 20 assists for the Parisians during his tenure. The right-back has also won four Ligue 1 titles, one Coupe de France, and two Trophée des Champions.
It will be interesting to see if Hakimi does extend his contract and remains committed to PSG or if Real Madrid makes a serious push for the player.
