Earlier this summer, Mario Cortegana from The Athletic reported that Real Madrid are considering Achraf Hakimi as a potential long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal. However, this transfer might not happen.
Real Madrid views Hakimi as a strong candidate for the right-back position due to his history with their youth system, his close relationship with Kylian Mbappé, and his current contract, which runs until 2026.
According to Le Parisien, Hakimi has reassured PSG’s leadership of his commitment to the club. He’s ready to take on more responsibility and his connection to PSG is evident as the staff see him as a key player.
As a result, Spanish outlet AS reports that Real Madrid is now closely watching Trent Alexander-Arnold. With the 25-year-old’s contract set to expire next summer, Real Madrid would only need to negotiate his wages if he becomes a free agent.
However, the Englishman does have a concerning stat that could see the Spanish side attempt to sway Hakimi. According to WhoScored, Alexander-Arnold has lost possession more often than any other player in the Premier League this season, with 85 instances.

It will be interesting to see what route Real Madrid takes to find a long-term replacement for Carvajal. It may be either of these two players or perhaps another target emerges.
