Real Madrid Newcomer a Casualty of ‘Dictatorship’ Amid PSG Financial Dispute

On Thursday, Le Parisien reported that the LFP’s legal committee has decided Paris Saint-Germain must pay Kylian Mbappé €55 million in unpaid salaries and bonuses.

This latest development follows Wednesday’s news that the commission had reportedly advised both parties to seek mediation to resolve the issue without further legal escalation.

However, in a statement sent to AFP, Mbappé’s representatives announced their rejection of the mediation proposed by the LFP regarding the financial dispute with PSG.

While the player has won this round, AFP reported on Thursday that PSG has decided not to pay Mbappé the €55 million in unpaid salary and bonuses.

As the situation gets uglier and the two sides stand firm, RMC Sport pundit Daniel Riolo sided with PSG’s all-time leading goal scorer. He notes that the Parisians should have had paperwork rather than rely on the player’s word that he’d give up this money.

“I like the given word, except that there is a film that unfolds,” Riolo said on RMC Sport (h/t Le10Sport). “And in the film, there are only betrayals between two guys who can’t stand each other. Two clans that can no longer see each other, who are at war even before the given word with other promises made by PSG.

“If you aspire to be a big club, sign papers guys. But stop with this talk, this bite-me-in-the-knot management because you don’t know how to keep your word, your way of operating is to do as you say. Apart from dictatorship, you don’t know any other way of operating. There is a right, there is a salary that should be due, Mbappé is totally within his rights and I think that before a normal court, he will win his case.”

It will be interesting to see how long PSG hold out and whether or not they’ll be forced to pay the Real Madrid newcomer.
