‘He Gets Bullied’ – PSG, Real Madrid Target Criticized for Performance in Tottenham’s Defeat to Arsenal

Paris Saint-Germain seem to be revamping its defense under manager Luis Enrique, and recently, Tottenham Hotspur’s Cristian Romero reportedly attracted attention from the Parisians, Real Madrid, and Manchester United.

However, as one pundit warned, these clubs might need to tread carefully when considering a move for him. Adding Willian Pacho is a good start for PSG, but it is just one piece of the puzzle in strengthening the center-back position.

With Marquinhos now in his 30s, Lucas Hernandez still recovering from a major injury, and Milan Skriniar not part of the club’s future plans, PSG will rely on emerging talents like Lucas Beraldo and Pacho to rejuvenate their defense.

The club is likely on the hunt for a defender who fits Enrique’s style of play. However, after PSG’s recent loss to Arsenal in the North London Derby, Romero is facing some criticism.

On Monday, talkSPORT’s Martin Keown slammed Romero for his performance that led to the lone goal in the contest.

“If you watch closely, he’s often got his back to the ball and is handcuffing his opponent,” Keown said. “When he has to do it in a fair manner, which he did try to do, it results in a slight shove, but he should be stronger there. He’s an animal in any other situation, [but] he gets bullied, which is disappointing for the manager.

“He’s got two good central defenders and fullbacks that fly forward. They’re trying to get it right, but they haven’t found the balance. They certainly haven’t got set pieces right; they look very, very vulnerable every time they have a corner against them.”
