Premier League Title Race Could Benefit PSG

The new UEFA Champions League format for the 2024-25 season promises to have more teams, more games, and matchups all fans want to see, including Paris Saint-Germain home against Manchester City.

The tournament will be just as fun as https://speltips.se/casino/nya-casino, and many PSG supporters have circled that home match against the reigning Premier League champions on January 22, 2025.

The fixture comes on matchday seven of the Champions League, and it’s likely both PSG and Manchester City will need points to secure a place in the knockout round or a top-eight finish and a place in the Round of 16.

It’s a difficult ask for a young PSG side that is still finding its way without Kylian Mbappé. However, there is something working in PSG’s favor and that is City’s race for the Premier League.

Currently, City is top of the table with 13 points, but Liverpool FC, Aston Villa FC, and Arsenal FC, who just battled City to a 2-2 draw despite being down to 10 men, are all within striking distance.

If the race remains tight, and all expectations are that it will, City will not be able to take a night out heading into the match against PSG, and they could be looking ahead to domestic fixtures.

During the month of January, City will have to play West Ham at home, Brentford away, and Ipswich Town away before traveling to the French capital. Ten days later, City travels to Arsenal, which could very well determine who will win the Premier League.

PSG may find themselves in a title battle with AS Monaco and Olympique de Marseille, but Luis Enrique’s squad still has to be considered favorites. City, on the other hand, is up against an Arsenal side that wants to win the Premier League more than anything, having come so close the last two seasons.

If PSG can get a point, or even beat City and take all three points, they could very well land a top eight finish and set themselves up for a favorable spot in the Round of 16.

Playing City in the second half of the season will also be a good test for Les Parisiens. It will be a chance for PSG to compare themselves against Pep Guardiola’s squad and see how they fare against one of the top teams in Europe.

City has gotten the best over PSG in the past in the Champions League, but this is a new season and a new competition. If City is distracted by their domestic challengers, PSG may be able to catch them by surprise and pull off the victory at the Parc des Princes.
