Manchester United’s €50M-Rated Newcomer Reveals the Players Who Convinced Him to Move to Old Trafford

Manuel Ugarte moved to Manchester United last Friday in the final hours of the summer transfer window. However, it appears that the Uruguayan had his heart set on a move to Old Trafford and that could be due to a couple of players on the team.

Multiple reports indicate that PSG will receive a fixed fee of €50 million, along with €10 million in add-ons and a 10 percent sell-on clause, as part of Ugarte’s transfer to Manchester United.

Journalist Duncan Castles mentioned last week that PSG holds no hard feelings towards Ugarte and expects him to become one of Manchester United’s top players in the future.

Nonetheless, there were rumors linking Ugarte to the Red Devils for most of the summer, and the midfielder had his heart set on moving to the Premier League side because of the conversations with players he knows, Bruno Fernandes and Lisandro Martinez, which sold him on likely wanting Manchester United and nothing else.

“First and foremost, its history, because we all know what a massive club United is,” Ugarte said (h/t The Mirror).” One of the best teams in the world. I’ve watched a few games since the news started to come out. I’ve also spoken with one or two players – with Bruno and Licha – and I have chatted quite a lot.

“I also spoke a lot with Facu Pellistri and he told me all about everything – the atmosphere that’s generated, the matchday atmosphere that builds up at Old Trafford is incredible.

“So yes, I’m really excited. I’d love to experience United’s legendary stadium as a player and feel the presence of the supporters. I’m really thrilled and, more than anything, eager and excited, while I obviously realise that it’s a great responsibility and I’m prepared for that.”
