The Xavi Simons saga has hit a pause, with Paris Saint-Germain opting to loan him to RB Leipzig for the 2024-25 season. Throughout the summer, the 21-year-old was linked to major clubs like Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Manchester United.

Earlier this month, Sport Bild journalists Tobi Altschäffl and Christian Falk reported that Bayern Munich chief Max Eberl is expected to make another push for him next summer.

However, Bayern Munich won’t be the only one in the race for the young talent in 2025. Christian Falk also notes that Manchester City and Liverpool are closely monitoring Simons’ situation.

The Manchester side views the Dutch talent as a potential replacement for Kevin De Bruyne. Nonetheless, City will also face competition from their crosstown rival Manchester United.

According to TEAMtalk, Manchester United have received a boost in their pursuit of Simons, as the Leipzig star no longer sees a future with PSG.

While on loan at RB Leipzig last season, Simons made a strong impression by playing in 43 matches across all competitions. He scored 10 goals and provided 15 assists, which caught the attention of several Premier League clubs.

This season, Simons has appeared in three matches across all competitions while scoring one goal and registering one assist.
