Manchester United outpaced Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid to sign former LOSC Lille defender Leny Yoro this past summer. In a recent interview, the Frenchman hints at why he chose Old Trafford.

The Premier League side reportedly paid €62 million plus €8 million for the teenager, which was better than any other club offered the Ligue 1 team. Moreover, the Red Devils also provided the player with a handsome salary.

According to MARCA, Yoro favored Manchester United’s contract offer of €9.5 million,  which was significantly higher than Real Madrid’s €2 million proposal. Yoro also explained why he opted for a move to the English side.

“For me, Man United is the biggest in the world,” Yoro told TNT. “To play for Man United is… even when I was young, the players that were here, the history, the fans. Everything is big here.”

PSG never submitted a formal bid for Yoro, but they did make an informal offer of up to €35 million, with an additional €5 million in add-ons. However, the club was unwilling to go beyond €45 million, which falls well short of Manchester United’s €62 million bid.
