Man Utd Eye Midfield Reinforcement with PSG Connection, Report Suggests

Manchester United could add another midfield with Paris Saint-Germain ties after securing Manuel Ugarte on the final day of the summer transfer window. The Red Devils are looking in the free-agent market and have their sights on one player.

Adrien Rabiot has been a free agent since his contract with Juventus expired in June. However, the player hasn’t signed with any club and now that the 2024-25 season has begun, the urgency should be setting in to join a club.

While Rabiot has been linked to several clubs this summer, PSG showed no interest in reuniting with their former player, even though they could use the depth in the midfield.

“Did PSG inquire about Rabiot? No, not at all,” Hawkins said. “The management was looking for a midfielder and very quickly Neves’ profile emerged.

“That’s the player that Luis Campos and Luis Enrique wanted. I believe that Rabiot wasn’t even on the shortlist. He wasn’t part of the leads.”

Nonetheless, Rabiot could be heading to Old Trafford to join Ugarte as Le Figaro reports that the Red Devils remain keen on the 29-year-old to bolster their midfield.

Rabiot remains a free agent due to his financial demands. The French media outlet notes that his mother still manages his interests, reportedly asking for a salary of over €10 million for her son.

This has deterred some suitors, but Manchester United and Newcastle United remain undeterred and could soon make a move.
