Earlier this summer, Mario Cortegana of The Athletic reported that Real Madrid have been eyeing Achraf Hakimi as a potential long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal. However, this move may not materialize.

The Spanish club sees Hakimi as a possible fit at right-back, given his roots in their youth system, his strong bond with Kylian Mbappé, and his contract runs until 2026.

According to Le Parisien, Hakimi has reassured PSG’s leadership about his commitment to the club. He’s ready to take on more responsibility and is expected to be named one of the vice-captains. His deep connection with PSG is clear, and the staff view him as one of their key players.

As a result, the Spanish outlet AS reports (h/t Fichajes) that Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on Trent Alexander-Arnold. The 25-year-old’s contract expires next summer and so the LaLiga side would only need to worry about his wages should he reach free agency.

The Englishman is a crucial player for Liverpool and the England national team, and his stock is steadily rising. Meanwhile, Hakimi’s chances of a return could be fading.

Hakimi joined PSG in 2021 from Inter Milan and has made 123 appearances while scoring 15 goals and registering 20 assists for the Parisians during his tenure. The right-back has also won four Ligue 1 titles, one Coupe de France, and two Trophée des Champions.
