FC Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen sustained a complete rupture of the patella tendon in his right knee during Sunday’s 5-1 LaLiga victory over Villarreal.
ESPN reports, citing sources, that the Germany goalkeeper will be sidelined for months and is unlikely to play again this season.
Moreover, the report notes the Barcelona hierarchy will hold emergency discussions this week to consult whether to sign a free-agent goalkeeper to replace the injured standout.
Should the Catalan side decide to pursue another goalkeeper Mundo Deportivo’s Ferran Martínez reports that former PSG goalkeeper Keylor Navas is eager to join Barcelona and would be more than willing to step in for Marc-André ter Stegen.
🚨 Keylor Navas wants to join Barcelona! He would be happy to replace Ter Stegen and he would join immediately as he is a free agent.
His salary demands will NOT be an issue.

As a free agent, Navas is ready to make the move immediately, and his salary demands won’t be a problem. The veteran goalkeeper has experience playing in LaLiga after years at Levante and Real Madrid.
It will be interesting to see if the Barcelona hierarchy decides to bring in a former Real Madrid player. However, perhaps Navas’ years at PSG can justify the move.
Bringing in Navas is a giant step forward, he’s an experienced player, mentally he’s alert physically strong, psychologically brilliant.
