Ousmane Dembélé has started the 2024-25 season in outstanding form, with three goals and two assists in just four Ligue 1 games. Moreover, one expert reveals why the player is experiencing success at Paris Saint-Germain, something that failed to happen regularly.

At 27, he’s clearly hitting his stride, and his performance is soaring in his second season in Paris after leaving the Catalan side last year.

If PSG were going to thrive without Kylian Mbappé, the former FC Barcelona star needed to really step up his game. The French club’s forward group is pretty young, with Dembélé being one of the more experienced players—though he’s still not even 30.

Robin Bairner, the chief editor of Football Transfers, wrote in his latest column for PSG Talk Extra Time what he sees working in the French capital that didn’t with the Spanish side.

“Throughout his career at Barca, he was forced to flit from the right wing to the left, all the while with concerns over how his body might hold up,” Bairner wrote. “Often, at Camp Nou, it did not.

“He was seemingly cursed from the outset, being struck down on his first league start against Getafe with a hamstring problem that kept him out for four months. It set the tone for a frustrating chapter in his career, during which he was in the medical room as much as he was out of it

Dembélé has enjoyed both consistency in his fitness and in his position at PSG. He has been given a clearly defined role on the right wing as well as the minutes required to get up to game speed and stay there.”

The winger’s impressive performances this season have caught the attention of Manchester United. While the Premier League team is looking for a right-winger, it seems unlikely that the Frenchman will leave Paris, given his strong form under Enrique.
