‘Think Casemiro’ – Pundit Outlines the Type of Midfielder PSG Are Offloading to Manchester United

Manuel Ugarte is set to join Manchester United, boosting their midfield with his addition. One pundit laid out what the Red Devils are set to receive from Paris Saint-Germain as the player had a one-and-done season in the French capital.

According to a recent report from L’Equipe, Ugarte feels his time at PSG hasn’t been fully satisfying and could have had a more significant role. On the other hand, PSG is expected to recoup most of its investment from last summer’s transfer from Sporting Lisbon.

Multiple reports suggest that the reigning Ligue 1 champions will receive a fixed fee of €50 million plus €10 million in add-ons and a 10 percent sell-on clause as part of Ugarte’s transfer to Manchester United.

European football expert Kevin Hatchard made a talkSPORT appearance on Wednesday and shared what Ugarte brings to the table and spotlighted why the Uruguayan is leaving the capital club after one season.

“He’s very much a defensively-minded midfielder, somebody who will win the ball back for you, get moves started,” Hatchard said. “But what he isn’t is particularly progressive. So you know what you’re getting. He’s not somebody who’s going to score a lot of goals. He’s not somebody who’s going to split a defense open with a pass, but he’ll get you started by winning that ball back.

“If that’s what you need, think Casemiro, but not as good at the moment… I think he’s somebody that when he got to PSG, started well, had some really good performances, but ultimately, Luis Enrique decided that he wanted a more technical player at the base of his midfield.”
