PSG Star Remains Manchester United’s Top Target; Stalled Midfield Sales Delay Deal

Manchester United’s interest in Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte appears to be waning. The deal has stalled due to the clubs’ inability to agree on a transfer fee, leading the Red Devils to ponder other alternatives.

According to a recent report from David Ornstein at The Athletic, Manchester United is now looking at other midfield options since talks with PSG about Manuel Ugarte have hit a snag, mainly because PSG is asking for €60 million.

As a result, reports have surfaced of names that the Premier League side are considering to bolster its midfield. James Ducker from The Telegraph recently reported that Manchester United have explored several midfield options after moving away from Ugarte.

They’re considering players Sander Berge, Richard Ríos, Martín Zubimendi, and Sofyan Amrabat. Despite these names, HITC reported on Wednesday that Ugarte is still Manchester United’s top target, and talks between the two clubs are ongoing.

Moreover, the report notes that while United doesn’t find PSG’s demands overly unreasonable, they have stressed that their budget is tight due to a lack of significant midfield sales this summer.

It will be interesting to see if the Red Devils pursue an alternative target to Ugarte or make a sale to help secure funds for an Ugarte move.
