PSG Outmaneuvered Liverpool to Secure Impressive Star Known for Defensive Prowess, Ball Skills

Paris Saint-Germain strengthened its defense with the announcement on Friday that Willian Pacho has joined the club. Additionally, one journalist believes that the Parisians secured an impressive defender who is good in both attack and defense.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that the deal includes a fixed fee of €40 million plus add-ons and a five-year contract for Pacho. Moreover, the capital club beat out Liverpool for the Ecuadorian standout.

According to a report from Le10Sport, when Liverpool found out that PSG had reached an agreement, they made a higher offer to Eintracht Frankfurt for Pacho. However, it was too late; Frankfurt had already committed to PSG and turned down Liverpool’s bid to finalize the deal with Paris.

Journalist Loïc Woos spoke about what type of player the reigning Ligue 1 champions are getting in Pacho, and it seems they beat the English club for a defense that brings a lot to the table.

“Over the past few years, he’s been one of the few defenders who excel both defensively and on the ball,” Woos said (h/t Le10Sport). “In Belgium, it’s usually one or the other. But Pacho has a great sense of the game and understands it really well.

“He’s very tidy in his tackles and when starting plays, and he’s also gained valuable experience in Germany and with the national team. He’s a fantastic signing.”
