PSG Newcomer Reveals Why He Didn’t ‘Hesitate’ to Snub Liverpool for Paris Move

Paris Saint-Germain has bolstered their defense as the capital club announced on Friday the arrival of Willian Pacho. The central defender also revealed why he chose the Parisian project amid other interested clubs.

The capital club would have beaten Liverpool for the Ecuadorian defender, as the Reds reportedly had their eyes on him. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that the deal includes a fixed fee of €40 million plus add-ons and a five-year contract for Pacho.

After the move was made official, the 22-year-old spoke with PSG’s official website and explained his decision to join the reigning Ligue 1 champions amid interest from a club like Liverpool.

“This is a huge club, and I’m really excited to be part of this family now,” Pacho said. “The project is ambitious, the way they work, the coach—everything about it appeals to me! When the club reached out, I didn’t hesitate for a second. I’m confident that being here will help me grow both as a person and a player, and I’ll give it my all!”

Since arriving in Frankfurt in 2023, Pacho has made 44 appearances with the German side and registered two assists. It will be interesting to see how long the player takes to adapt as he’ll be counted right away to start the 2024-25 season with the injuries to the center-back position.

  1. Should LFC back the Dutchman signing quality-wise LFC will retain their place in top 4 finish. In the same breath LFC can surprise many Thomases by competing for the Championship. If they can strengthen with not less than three signings 24/25 season will be bright for the Reds.” You will never walk alone “.
