PSG ‘Definitely Know’ About Manchester United Defender’s Physical Condition Before Foot Injury

Manchester United beat out clubs like Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid for former LOSC Lille defender Leny Yoro. However, the teenager already picked up an injury during the club’s preseason tour in the United States.

The Red Devils reportedly paid €62 million plus €8 million for Yoro, so it’s not ideal to see their new investment miss time. L’Equipe’s Loïc Tanzi recently reported that PSG was aware of Yoro’s health issues.

According to a French media outlet, Yoro’s recent injury, possibly a fractured metatarsal that could keep him out for months, has caught attention.

PSG explained that they knew about Yoro’s physical vulnerabilities, which is why they didn’t match or get close to the amount Manchester United paid for him.

On the latest episode of PSG Talking, Football Transfers’ Robin Bairner spoke about the Parisians knowing about the health issues that Yoro will face as his career continues.

“I think PSG obviously weren’t predicting Leny Yoro to suffer a broken foot and to miss three months of the season at this point,” Bairner said. “Clearly, that’s ludicrous. What PSG would have been looking at is the potential for Leny Yoro to suffer an injury at some point this season or even become injury-prone in the next, say, three to five years over the course of his contract. Now, you know, what exactly they will have looked at, I’m not sure. They will certainly, I believe they will have had contact with Yoro or Lille to discuss certain aspects of his physicality in terms of his growth [and] how he’s grown.

“You know, they’ll have looked at things like how he runs, his physical development. You know, all these things will have come into their play or into their minds when it comes to making this decision about whether to sign him or not. And clearly Manchester United have gone and spent probably over his current transfer valuation. And PSG simply believe that he’s not worth that because there is this potential for him to pick up injuries.

“Now, I believe that PSG were well versed in Yoro’s physical situation before he moved to Manchester United because PSG knew about or PSG broke the news to us about Yoro’s broken foot 48 hours before it was made public by Manchester United. So PSG have got a link there. PSG definitely know about Yoro’s physical state. So that just leads me to believe that the news that they were put off by for signing him by his injury potential was indeed accurate.”

There’s no denying that Yoro has the talent to be a quality center-back but this information does spotlight why the capital club didn’t go all out for the defender this summer.
