Napoli Push to Finalize Deal for €30M-Rated Manchester United Ace, Boosting Ugarte Pursuit

The sticking point between Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain for Manuel Ugarte has been the transfer fee. Nonetheless, Napoli could be providing the Red Devils a boost as a sale could help smooth out any financial differences.

L’Equipe reported this week that negotiations over Ugarte between PSG and Manchester United for a loan deal with a €60 million obligation to buy are nearing a successful ending. The two clubs have significantly narrowed their differences, and the deal could be completed within the next few hours.

Moreover, the Premier League side could see money come into their coffers as Napoli are keen on securing Scott McTominay. The potential departure would also mean a midfielder would exit and open a spot for Ugarte.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Napoli are insisting on completing the deal for McTominay, and around €30 million could be enough to finalize the transfer.

It will be interesting to follow these next few days to see if both these deals get done for Manchester United, as they could complement each other financially.

If the Premier League side finalizes the transfer and sign the 23-year-old before the summer window closes, South American football expert Tim Vickery believes that Ugarte will fill a major midfield dilemma.

“He does remind me a lot of a young version of Javier Mascherano, and I think this is a good fit,” Vickery said. This whole transfer window has been a game of poker between United and Paris Saint-Germain, but it would seem to be moving in the direction of Ugarte moving to United and trying to plug that [defensive midfield] hole.”
