Manchester United’s Bid for PSG-Linked Talent Rejected by Bayern Munich, Report Says

Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt has been linked to Paris Saint-Germain this summer transfer window, but the Dutchman seems to have his heart set on joining Manchester United. However, that move continues to have hurdles.

According to a recent report from Bild, Manchester United have made their initial bid for de Ligt, but it doesn’t meet Bayern Munich’s asking price. The Bavarian side are willing to sell de Ligt, who would reunite with Erik ten Hag at United, but they want €50 million (£42 million).

The Red Devils’ offer is said to be €30 million plus €5 million in add-ons, totaling £29.4 million. While the clubs might be far apart on a transfer fee, Bayern Munich are proceeding as though the player will be sold this summer.

On Friday, information from The Athletic’s David Ornstein surfaced revealing that Manchester United have submitted an opening double offer to sign Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui. Nonetheless, Bayern Munich rejected the proposal as discussions are ongoing.

Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reported that Bayern Munich are still in contact with Manchester United over de Ligt. Moreover, the Dutchman will not be with the Bundesliga side squad as they departed for South Korea as part of their preseason.
