Manchester United Winger Leaving for PSG Presents ‘Great Opportunity’ to Revive Career, Expert Says

In the coming weeks, Paris Saint-Germain will need to decide whether to pursue Jadon Sancho or whether Manchester United are open to selling the player this summer.

Journalist Duncan Castles shared the latest on the situation, revealing that PSG has had direct discussions with Manchester United about Sancho’s potential transfer fee. However, there are some concerns within the club about Sancho’s character and how he might fit into the team.

Football Transfers reports that Sancho isn’t the Parisians’ first choice for the position; that remains Khvicha Kvaratskhelia of Napoli. PSG are not confident of securing the Georgia international due to the Serie A club’s inflated asking price.

The Sunday Times football correspondent Jonathan Northcroft spoke with The Transfers Podcast and shared his thoughts on Sancho heading to the French capital this summer.

“He has to do some growing as a player,” Northcroft said. “Jadon Sancho is at a crossroads, and we could have probably said that every summer for the two or four summers, but got to do it now. He’s 24. Although he’s had a good pre-season, I don’t see him and Ten Hag as a fit going forward.

“For Sancho to fulfil what he could fulfil, it has to be elsewhere, and PSG is a great opportunity for him. But if you go to PSG and you’re playing for Luis Enrique, it would be up to him to adapt in that extra way that he still hasn’t quite done. His absolute best football’s been played for one club in one particular set of circumstances. And when he’s been at Manchester United or England, he hasn’t quite been at the same level. PSG would be a great opportunity for him.”

The 24-year-old spent the latter part of the 2023-24 season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, where he was instrumental in their journey to the UEFA Champions League final.

Last season, Sancho played in 24 matches for  Manchester United and Dortmund, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
