Manchester United Refuse to Be Held Hostage by Bayern Munich and PSG’s Inflated Player Prices

Manchester United’s interest in Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte seems to be in limbo. The major hurdle that prevents a transfer from happening is the inability to find common ground on a transfer fee.

According to a recent report from David Ornstein at The Athletic, Manchester United is now looking at other midfield options since talks with PSG about Manuel Ugarte have hit a snag, mainly because PSG is asking for €60 million.

James Ducker from The Telegraph recently reported that Manchester United have explored several midfield options after moving away from Ugarte. They’re considering players Sander Berge, Richard Ríos, Martín Zubimendi, and Sofyan Amrabat.

The reason why the Red Devils are taking this stance rather than meeting the Parisians’ demand is because they don’t want to overpay.

Give Me Sport’s Dean Jones reports that Manchester United are determined not to be held to ransom by Bayern Munich, as they pursue Matthijs de Ligt, and PSG, who are pricing their players too high.

HITC reported on Wednesday that despite the other names mentioned, Ugarte remains Manchester United’s top target, and talks between the two clubs are still ongoing.

The report also points out that while United doesn’t see PSG’s demands as unreasonable, they’ve emphasized that their budget is tight due to a lack of major midfield sales this summer.
