Manchester United Optimistic About Securing £51.5M-Rated PSG Outcast, Report Says

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are at a standstill regarding Manuel Ugarte’s transfer fee. The Uruguayan is reportedly out of manager Luis Enrique’s plans, but the Parisians are standing firm with their asking price.

David Ornstein of The Athletic recently reported that Manchester United are exploring other midfield options after their talks with PSG for Ugarte hit a roadblock. The deal stalled mainly because the Parisians are asking for €60 million.

However, the latest information surrounding Ugarte reveals that the Red Devils aren’t keen on meeting the asking price for the midfielder. According to The Telegraph’s Jason Burt, PSG’s main focus right now appears to be selling Ugarte, though they are holding firm on a price of at least £51.5 million.

Manchester United, however, have signaled they plan to offer less than that, but there is still optimism that an agreement could be reached. Le Parisien reported this week that the midfielder has received the message and understands that he isn’t part of Luis Enrique’s plans.

It’ll be interesting to see if this boosts Manchester United’s chances of signing the Uruguayan or if they’ll explore other options to strengthen their midfield for the 2024-25 season.
